Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2014–2015 school year. The Education Committee and teachers are excited about the coming year and are busy planning programs, field trips, family education days and more.
Our first day of school is Sunday, September 7th, 2014. You should plan to accompany your child(ren) to the opening assembly and stay for the assembly and Meet the Teacher Time to hear about their plans for the year.

First Day Meet the Teacher Schedule – Sunday, September 7th, 2014
- 9:00 - 9:15 a.m. Check in time
- 9:15 – 9:30 a.m. Assembly in Sanctuary for students, parents, teachers and madrikhim
- 9:35 – 9:50 a.m. K - 4th grade students and parents dismissed to classrooms
(5th-7th grade students/parents remain in Sanctuary w/Rabbi Eitan
(K-4th parents dismissed at 9:50))
- 9:55 – 10:10 a.m. 5th - 7th grade parents and students go to classrooms
(5th-7th parents dismissed at 10:10)
ALL STUDENTS REMAIN IN CLASS
- 10:15 -12:25 p.m. Regular class time
We understand it is not possible to be in two places at once, so if you have more than one child in the same age ranges we created, please try to bring an extra adult (or you can always introduce yourself to your child’s teacher at another time). Thank you for your patience.

What are the school hours?
9:15 a.m. – 12:25 p.m.
Where do I park?
On the first day of school, please park in the overflow lot at
Hawthorn School parking lot, located at 200 Glendale St., right behind Shir
Hadash. From Dundee Road, take Wolf Road heading North, turn west onto Glendale
Street, school located on left. From Milwaukee Road, take Wolf Road (near
Westin Hotel), turn West onto Glendale Street, school located on the left. Walk
across bridge towards Shir Hadash.
Where do we go when we get to the school on the first day?
Please check in at the desk and proceed to the Sanctuary. The
schedule for the morning is on the reverse side of this page.
Do parents need to attend?
Yes!
What should my child bring?
K - 7th Grade: snack and juice or water
2nd Grade & above: 2 sharpened pencils
Do children need to bring a snack?
*Yes! Please make it a healthy, veggie/dairy (no meat)
snack: fruit, ½ sandwich, crackers & cheese, etc. Juice or a
water bottle is recommended. *Be sure not to send any food item
containing nuts.
What
is the appropriate dress?
Children
should wear casual clothes, appropriate for school and for the weather.
What is the pick-up procedure?
Parents of primary school children (K- 2) should park and meet
their children at the center circle area. Older children (3 - 7) may meet
their parents outside of the school. Parents must follow the traffic
pattern guidelines established by the school.
